Hi all! You have three things to do this summer: 1 - watch TV; 2 - read The Road by Cormac McCarthy; 3 - read a book you choose. Of course it's a tiny bit more involved than that, as explained in your summer reading task sheet.
But think about this for me, will ya'? Why is the clip below so summoning? What makes it beautiful or moving or lasting?
Kind of interesting when you consider how cheesy or played this scene could come off. So: why?
As promised here is a list of television shows that might work for this assignment:
Friday Night Lights*
Game of Thrones*
The Walking Dead*
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The West Wing
House of Cards*
Orange is the New Black*
Curb Your Enthusiasm
There are SO MANY more! Check out this list from Paste Magazine, and this one from Rolling Stone, and maybe this one, too, from The Writer's Guild of America. Search around to see what people are saying or have said about the series you choose.
In addition, some of these shows aren't appropriate for all audiences. Like a lot of good stories and plenty of classic literature, some content and themes are adult, graphic, and sometimes disturbing, It, of course, depends on your and your parents' limitations. With that said, there's a huge range and something suitable for everyone.
Now, go make the popcorn.
