Week in Review 12.7-12.11

All: it's been a busy week. 'Tis the season! We've been focused on sentence patterns, and I will reiterate forever (redundant much? ;) the reasons we are learning and practicing this skill: 

• To use sentence patterns as a means for literary analysis, as a lens to look through, as a refinement for analysis
• To continue to develop our awareness of language and how a writer's craft and intentional use of it (especially repetition) creates a meaningful or desired effect
• To enhance our own writing, for effect and purpose, through the intentional use of verb patterns

Many of you have had some pretty awesome insights, like: "Be verb" sentences are the heart of the work. Or, "Be verb" sentences reiterate and categorize. And "The repetition of verb patterns definitely establish mood or tone."
