![]() This week's mentor is my favorite so far. It's called "Disco Papa" by Karen Russell (of whom I am a major fan), and it's a lovely little essay about her grandfather. We focused in on detail and imagery and how you can use Russell's sentences to recreate your OWN experiences. One of my favorite examples so far: "The dance floor was shaped like a tortilla chip and kept lighting up in demonic colors." That sentence became: "The desks are shaped like arrows and pointing us in the direction of our futures." Woo woo? Make sure you've completed your two column chart with headings Examples of Detail and Imagery from Mentor Text & My Imitation. Looking forward to seeing how you use detail and imagery to tell your own story! |
